Let’s talk exercise guidelines.  The American Heart Association recommends 150 minutes of mild to moderate exercise per week or 75 minutes of vigorous exercise per week for heart health.  So what does that mean?

Mild exercise is walking.  You should be able to talk to a friend and hold a conversation.  You should be a little winded.

Moderate exercise is walking at a fast pace, biking or light jogging.  You should be able to talk but you can’t sing.

Vigorous exercise is activity such as HIIT workouts or fast paced running.  You should not be able to have a conversation and you are mainly focused on your breathing.  Remember these recommendations are for heart health.  If you are working on weight loss, you will need to add more along with a variety of workout types.  But for many people this is a great way to get started.  So get outside, enjoy the sunshine and get moving!   Follow us for more health tips and feel free to comment with questions and I would be happy to answer in a video!
