Self care is integral to our well-being and it doesn’t have to be complicated!
I was with a patient the other day who was saying, “Self care is so hard. You either need a lot of time or money to really practice self care.”
Well that is just not true! Self care can come in all forms and doesn’t have to be complex. Just the simple act of going to bed at a reasonable time to give your body 7-8 hours of sleep is self care! You don’t have to join a fancy yoga studio, take long vacations or buy expensive spa treatments to love yourself.
Here are some ways you can practice self care without extra time or money:
- Set screen time limits on social media accounts and work contacts
- Brush your hair and wash your face every day
- Fuel your body with foods that make you feel good
- Take your time when using the bathroom, especially for 💩
- Hug a loved one for 30 seconds to release oxytocin (love hormone)
What small things can you acknowledge that you do for self care every day? Maybe you should give yourself more credit than you do!
